Alyx is nothing but a VR puzzle showcase. Boring ass simple tedious puzzles with horribly mismatched action scenes. 90% boring repetitive puzzles and 10% you vs heavily armored enemies while you have pathetic weapons. The fact of how outgunned you are makes winning a gunfight break all immersion for me.
The Orange Box was the first game I ever bought with my own money back in 2007, and Half-Life has been one of my favorite series ever since. HL is different, it has a long runing history, with some areas that are scary (ravenhold in half life 2 is an example). I played alyx on the most easy setting and that helped me a lot going thru it.
